Preh refurbishes their three warehouses with multiple solutions from Dexion, including, storage, picking and handling systems.
Originally starting out as a component manufacturer for the radio industry, Preh has gradually developed into a pure automotive supplier. Today they are a leading global automotive supplier, with an impressive product range, which includes, climate control, driver control systems, sensors, ECUs and manufacturing systems for leading automotive manufacturers.
Jakob Preh’s pioneering spirit played an important role in the early days of radio technology. Through sound, far-sighted management, Jakob Preh’s successors saw opportunities in the automotive market who developed the company into a leading, respected OEM supplier.
It’s innovation that moves our world forward. Throughout the world, Preh product development process is organised according to a standardised process. This approach means, Preh make’s certain that it’s plants can work together optimally. No matter where the location, Preh’s philosophy remains the same: “Innovation and Pre(h)mium Quality first!” which is applied to the development of all of its products.
Preh required different storage solutions which would enhance the 3 connected warehouses, filled with laboratories, manufacturing areas, offices, buffer zones and storage areas for raw materials and finished goods within its ever expanding manufacturing unit, near Brasov. The archive area also needed optimising to save space and offer easy access to some areas, while restricting access to confidential files.
Preh needed a trusted supplier, that would be able to offer a wide range of products, which would be customised to their needs, so that they could be dismantled, moved and reinstalled as the building configuration developed.
Over the years as Preh’s manufacturing capacity grew, as has the professional relationship with Dexion, who have now been their preferred racking supplier for many years.
For the laboratory area HI280 galvanised shelving systems were installed, which offered a lightweight yet strong storage solution for boxed goods.
Dexion recommended that Premier Rack and P90 pallet racking systems were installed for the storage areas, Dexion recommended, which were fitted with optional extra safety accessories, such as back-stop-beams, corner guards, mesh, and carton floor panels on the bottom levels to allow for easier picking. Additionally an installation of Pull-Out units for palletised goods is also scheduled in the future.
Within the buffer areas, Pallet Flow modules were employed, offering a safe yet strong storage solution, providing an efficient method of moving parts and most importantly, separating goods between the various stages of manufacturing, throughout the production stages.
A premium, mobile, Bruynzeel Compactus archive system was introduced for the archive area. This created an 80% saving of archiving space, providing easy access to all files with the help of an easy to use hand crank system. This solution also benefits from individual lockable shelves which are ideal for storing confidential papers, which need access restricting.
Most of the solutions employed throughout Preh’s 3 warehouses were P90 static racking of various heights, which were complemented with a range of storage accessories, such as column guards, corner guards, steel gratings and back-stop beams.
In the picking areas, the lower levels of Dexion P90 racks were fitted with gravitational Carton Flow, and fitted with bins, which were ideal for small part handling.
The buffer area between the various manufacturing points were fitted with gravitational Pallet Flow racks, which stand 6500 mm high, and contains 120 pallet positions to each rack, providing the ideal separation of operations between the various stages of production.
